Meet the Founders

Our Vision, Born from Our Journey

Welcome to One Tikar One People of the African Diaspora!

As proud children of the Tikar and Bamileke legacy, our journey began with a question that echoes in the hearts of so many of you: Who am I? Where do I come from?

Our personal quest to reconnect with our own roots sparked a much larger vision—to build a home for all of Africa’s children right here in our shared home of Minnesota.

We believe in positive thinking and in championing causes that unite us as one people. This organization was born from our deep belief that while our ancestral roots may be in different soils across a vast continent, here in the Twin Cities, we are one family.

We created this platform to be a bridge for our African American brothers and sisters on their own sacred journey to trace their heritage, and to be a gathering place for all African immigrants to celebrate the diverse cultures that make us who we are. It is in the spirit of our heritage that we welcome you with an open heart.

Ki louen bouessseu nkoudji! (Welcome, my people!)

Our Purpose

Action and Empowerment for Our Community

We believe that vision must be met with action. Our mission is to empower our community from the ground up, and we bring this to life through tangible, impactful initiatives.

We amplify this mission through our flagship event, the annual Minnesota African Cultural Festival, and our continuous community engagements.

We designed the festival to be a powerful platform for economic development, creating a crucial stage for African-owned businesses and community organizations to shine.

It is a place where we connect our entrepreneurs not just with the public, but with procurement officers from major corporations and government entities, opening real doors for growth and opportunity.

Beyond the festival, we are committed to fostering sustainable development through targeted training in crucial areas like business ownership, healthcare, mental wellness, and wealth creation.

This is our mission in action: working alongside you to build a strong, prosperous, and culturally proud African diaspora, together.
